ワット・パー・サーリーブン（Wat Pa Saleebun）
― 小さな施しが生む、大きな功徳の物語 ―
名称に込めた想い
2024年12月 和歌山の静かな地に、ひとつの小さな仏教寺院(社団法人)が誕生しました。
その名は「ワット・パー・サーリーブン」。
この名前には、深い仏教の教えが込められています。

「ワット」… 仏の教えを学び、修行する場所

「パー」… 森、つまり静けさや離欲、修行の象徴
-
「サーリー（สาลี）」… 仏伝に登場する麦（小麦）を意味し、
小さな施しの心を象徴します。
「サーリー」は、プンナーという女奴隷が仏陀に差し出した、粗末な麦のお菓子に由来しています。
プンナーは貧しく、地位もなく、持ち物もほとんどありませんでした。
それでも、心からの施しを仏陀に捧げました。
仏陀はその小さな供物を受け取り、静かに召し上がりました。
ここに示されたのは、施しの本質は「物」ではなく「心」にあるということです。
この「サーリーの施し」が象徴するのは、
「何も持たない者が、純粋な心で与える功徳（บุญ・ブン）」
です。
功徳（ブン）は、単なる善行ではありません。
それは心の清らかさから生まれ、自分も周囲も清め、解脱への道を照らす光となります。
「ワット・パー・サーリーブン」は、
プンナーの純粋な施しの心を讃える寺院。
物の多少や身分に関係なく、誰もが心の善を育める場所を目指しています。
プンナー女奴の物語
― 施しの心の尊さ ―
お釈迦様が霊鷲山（りょうじゅせん）に滞在していた頃、
プンナーという名の女性奴隷がいました。
重労働に追われる日々の中でも、彼女の心には仏への深い敬意がありました。
ある夜、主人から大量の籾を渡され、夜通し精米するよう命じられます。
働く合間に外に出た彼女は、山の上を行く僧たちの灯りを見て、
「私も眠れないが、あのお坊さまたちも何か危険のため起きているのだろうか」
と案じました。
夜明け、プンナーは残った米ぬかをこね、手作りの簡素な餅を焼きました。
これは川へ水を汲みに行く途中、自分が食べるためのものでしたが、
偶然にも仏陀と出会います。
「今日は供物もあり、仏さまにも出会えた。
この粗末な餅でも、心を込めて捧げたい――」
プンナーは五体投地して、餅を仏陀に捧げました。
仏陀はそれを受け取り、その場で召し上がりました。
天の神々も喜び、餅は甘露のような味に変わったと伝えられています。
施しの心を軽んじることなく、心の内を見抜かれた仏陀は、
こう説かれました。
「常に目覚め、昼夜を問わず修行する者に、煩悩は入り込まない。」
この教えを聞いたプンナーは、その場で「預流果（そじゅうか）」――
悟りの第一段階を得たと伝えられます。
この寺が伝えたいこと

となるでしょう。

วัดป่าสาลีบุญ (Wat Pa Saleebun)
― เรื่องราวของบุญใหญ่ที่เกิดจากทานอันเล็กน้อย ―
ความหมายที่ซ่อนอยู่ในนาม
ในเดือนธันวาคม พ.ศ. 2567 (ค.ศ. 2024)
ณ ดินแดนอันสงบเงียบแห่งจังหวัดวาคายามะ ประเทศญี่ปุ่น
วัดพุทธขนาดเล็กแห่งหนึ่งในรูปแบบนิติบุคคลได้ถือกำเนิดขึ้น
โดยมีชื่อว่า "วัดป่าสาลีบุญ"
ชื่อนี้มีความหมายลึกซึ้งตามหลักพระพุทธศาสนา
- "วัด" หมายถึง สถานที่ศึกษาพระธรรมและปฏิบัติธรรม
- "ป่า" หมายถึง ความเงียบสงบ การสละกิเลส และการเจริญภาวนา
- "สาลี (สาลี)" หมายถึง ข้าวสาลีซึ่งปรากฏในพุทธประวัติ
เป็นสัญลักษณ์ของใจที่เปี่ยมด้วยเมตตาแห่งการให้ทาน
"สาลี" นี้เกี่ยวเนื่องกับเรื่องราวของหญิงทาสนามว่า ปุณณา
ผู้ซึ่งแม้จะยากไร้ ไร้ชื่อเสียง ไร้ทรัพย์สมบัติ
แต่ก็ยังถวายขนมจากข้าวสาลีที่หยาบและเรียบง่ายแด่พระพุทธองค์ด้วยใจบริสุทธิ์
พระพุทธเจ้าทรงรับทานอันเล็กน้อยนั้นและเสวยทันที
แสดงให้เห็นชัดเจนว่า แก่นแท้ของการให้มิใช่อยู่ที่วัตถุ แต่คือจิตใจ
"ทานสาลี" นี้จึงเป็นสัญลักษณ์ของ
"บุญ (บุญ) ที่เกิดจากใจบริสุทธิ์ของผู้ซึ่งไม่มีสิ่งใดในครอบครอง"
"บุญ" มิใช่เพียงการทำความดีเท่านั้น
แต่คือพลังแห่งความบริสุทธิ์ของใจ ที่ชำระตนเองและผู้อื่น
และส่องทางไปสู่การหลุดพ้น
วัดป่าสาลีบุญ
คือวัดที่เชิดชูหัวใจแห่งการให้ทานอันบริสุทธิ์ของปุณณา
เป็นสถานที่ที่ไม่ว่าสถานะหรือทรัพย์สมบัติจะมากน้อยเพียงใด
ทุกคนสามารถมาปลูกฝังความดีในจิตใจได้
เรื่องราวของปุณณา
― ความงดงามของใจที่เปี่ยมด้วยศรัทธา ―
ในครั้งที่พระพุทธองค์ประทับอยู่ ณ เขาคิชฌกูฏ (เขาแร้ง)
มีหญิงทาสนามว่า ปุณณา อาศัยอยู่ในคฤหาสน์ของเศรษฐี
แม้ต้องทำงานหนักอย่างไม่รู้จบ แต่ในใจของเธอกลับเปี่ยมด้วยความเคารพในพระพุทธเจ้า
คืนหนึ่ง เธอได้รับคำสั่งให้นวดข้าวเปลือกตลอดทั้งคืน
ระหว่างพักเหนื่อย เธอออกไปข้างนอก และได้เห็นแสงไฟของพระภิกษุผู้เดินอยู่บนภูเขา
เธอคิดด้วยความห่วงใยว่า
"แม้แต่พระภิกษุก็ต้องตื่นในยามวิกาล อาจมีอันตรายหรือเรื่องเร่งด่วนเกิดขึ้น"
รุ่งเช้า
ปุณณาได้นำเศษรำข้าวที่เหลือมาผสมน้ำเล็กน้อย ปั้นเป็นแผ่นขนมอย่างง่าย ๆ และย่างด้วยถ่านไฟ
ตั้งใจจะนำไปกินระหว่างเดินทางไปตักน้ำ
แต่ระหว่างทาง เธอได้พบกับพระพุทธองค์โดยบังเอิญ
เธอคิดในใจว่า
"วันนี้ทั้งมีขนมและได้พบพระพุทธเจ้า ขอถวายด้วยใจทั้งหมด"
เธอวางหม้อน้ำลง ก้มกราบเบญจางคประดิษฐ์ และถวายขนมด้วยความนอบน้อม
พระพุทธองค์ทรงรับขนมจากมือของเธอ และเสวยทันที ณ ที่นั้นเอง
เหล่าเทวดาได้โปรยน้ำอมฤตลงบนขนม ทำให้ขนมนั้นมีรสหวานดั่งน้ำผึ้ง
ปุณณามองภาพนั้นด้วยน้ำตาแห่งปีติ
หลังเสวยเสร็จ พระพุทธองค์ตรัสถามว่า
"เหตุไฉนจึงระแวงสงสัยพระสาวกของเรา?"
ปุณณากราบทูลด้วยใจจริงว่า
"ข้าพเจ้ามิได้ดูหมิ่น เพียงแต่เป็นห่วงว่าท่านทั้งหลายอาจประสบอันตราย"
พระพุทธองค์จึงตรัสสอนว่า
"ผู้มีสติสัมปชัญญะ มุ่งมั่นปฏิบัติตามทางแห่งการตรัสรู้ ทั้งกลางวันและกลางคืน
ย่อมดับกิเลสทั้งหลายได้"
เมื่อสดับธรรมคำสอนนี้
ปุณณาได้บรรลุ โสดาปัตติผล ซึ่งเป็นขั้นแรกของการเข้าสู่พระอริยบุคคล
ปณิธานของวัดป่าสาลีบุญ
- ความยากจนหรือฐานะต่ำ มิใช่อุปสรรคต่อการสร้างบุญ
- คุณค่าของการให้ทานวัดกันที่ "ใจ" มิใช่ "วัตถุ"
- แม้ทานอันน้อยนิด หากทำด้วยใจที่บริสุทธิ์ ก็สามารถเปิดทางสู่การตรัสรู้ได้
วัดป่าสาลีบุญ
ขอเป็นสถานที่ที่สืบสานแก่นแท้ของพุทธศาสนาอย่างเงียบสงบ
แม้โลกภายนอกจะวุ่นวายเพียงใด
ที่แห่งนี้จะเป็น
"แสงสว่างสู่ความสงบและเมตตาภายใน"

― The Story of Great Merit Born from a Small Act of Giving ―
The Meaning Behind the Name
In December 2024,
in the serene land of Wakayama, Japan,
a small Buddhist temple (established as a general incorporated association) was founded.
Its name is "Wat Pa Saleebun."
This name carries a profound meaning rooted in Buddhist teachings:
"Wat" refers to a place for studying and practicing the teachings of the Buddha.
"Pa" symbolizes a forest, representing serenity, renunciation, and dedicated practice.
"Salee (สาลี)" refers to wheat, which appears in Buddhist scriptures,
symbolizing the pure heart behind even the humblest act of giving.
The story of "Salee" comes from a woman named Punna,
a slave who, despite her poverty and lowly status,
offered a simple wheat cake to the Buddha with a pure and devoted heart.
The Buddha accepted her modest offering and ate it immediately,
thus illustrating a profound truth:
the essence of giving lies not in the material value of the gift, but in the purity of the heart.
The act of giving represented by "Salee"
embodies the spirit of
"merit (Bun, บุญ) born from the pure heart of one who possesses nothing."
Merit (Bun) is not merely good deeds;
it is a radiant force born from purity of mind,
which purifies oneself and others,
and illuminates the path to liberation.
Wat Pa Saleebun
is a temple built to honor Punna’s pure-hearted offering,
a place where anyone—regardless of wealth or social status—
can cultivate goodness within their hearts.
The Story of Punna
― The Beauty of a Heart Full of Faith ―
During the time when the Buddha was residing at Vulture Peak (Rajagaha),
there lived a slave woman named Punna.
Despite her life of endless hard labor,
her heart was filled with deep reverence for the Buddha.
One night, she was ordered by her master to mill rice throughout the night.
While resting for a moment,
she saw the lights of monks walking up the mountain and thought with concern,
"Even I cannot sleep because of labor—perhaps the monks are awake due to danger or illness."
At dawn,
Punna gathered the rice bran left from her work,
mixed it with a little water,
and baked a simple flat cake over charcoal.
She intended to eat it while going to fetch water.
However, on her way, she happened to encounter the Buddha.
She thought to herself,
"Today, I have something to offer and have met the Blessed One—let me offer this with all my heart."
Laying down her water jar,
she respectfully prostrated herself before the Buddha
and humbly offered the simple cake.
The Buddha accepted her offering and ate it right there on the roadside.
It is said that the heavenly beings rejoiced,
and the cake became as sweet as nectar.
Punna, moved to tears, watched the scene with deep joy.
After finishing the meal,
the Buddha asked her:
"Why did you harbor doubts about my disciples?"
Punna respectfully replied:
"I did not mean to disrespect them.
I merely worried that they might be in danger or hardship."
The Buddha then taught her:
"Those who remain ever mindful,
striving earnestly day and night along the path to enlightenment,
shall be freed from all defilements."
Upon hearing this Dhamma,
Punna attained Sotapanna—the first stage of enlightenment—
becoming a noble disciple.
The Mission of Wat Pa Saleebun
Poverty or low status is no obstacle to creating merit.
The true value of giving is measured by the purity of the heart, not by material wealth.
Even a small act of kindness, if done with a pure heart, can open the way to enlightenment.
Wat Pa Saleebun
aspires to be a place where the true essence of Buddhism is quietly preserved,
a sanctuary where, no matter how noisy the world may become,
one can always find
"the light of inner peace and compassion."
